BERGEN COUNTY RIGHT TO LIFE

Englewood abortuary still not operating

Story Date Source Abstract
3/8/2007 pro-life infonet An abortion business in Englewood failed a second inspection

An abortion business in Englewood failed a follow-up inspection by the NJ health department on 3/6. The department said the Metropolitan Medical Associates abortion mill still hasn`t met health and safety requirements.

The mill was shut down after a complaint was filed by a woman who suffered a stroke and was in a coma for a month after an abortion 1/27 at the clinic. She also suffered massive hemorrhaging and had a hysterectomy. Two other women have come forward with complaints against the mill.

In ordering MMA to close, the Department of Health and Senior Services did said the abortion facility had poor infection control, and did not properly sterilize instruments and equipment.

Metropolitan Medical Associates on its own performs more abortions than most states do in a year. The abortion business also utilizes the gruesome partial-birth abortion procedure.
