President Obama`s executive order designated the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to draft guidelines for distributing funds for embryonic stem cell research (ESCR) that would allow, encourage, and fund research on human embryos that would cause the death of those embryos – all at taxpayer’s expense. The Executive Order and the draft NIH guidelines are attached for your review.
Please submit your comments TODAY - tell the NIH that you OPPOSE federal funding of research on stem cells taken from human embryos. Go to: http://nihoerextra.nih.gov/stem_cells/add.htm
We have until 11 p.m. on May 26th to make our voices heard.
Proof of the humanity of these embryos is that several hundred have been adopted by loving parents and allowed to be born. Visit www.Snowflakes.org to learn more about this.
QUOTE "For first time, federal tax dollars will be used to encourage destruction of living embryonic human beings. . .divorcing biomedical research from its necessary ethical foundation. Without unconditional respect for the life of each and every member of the human race, research involving human subjects does not represent true progress. It becomes another way for some human beings to use and mistreat others for their own goals. . . For the first time, federal tax dollars will be used to encourage destruction of living embryonic human beings for stem cell research – including human beings who otherwise would have survived and been born. . . The Catholic bishops of the United States will be writing to Congress and the Administration about the need to restore and maintain barriers against the mistreatment of human life in the name of science, and we urge other concerned citizens to do the same.
